With the tantalizing premise ” A city full of design” , the Vienna Design Week the Austrian capital transforms into a showcase to celebrate the design . This seventh edition focuses on the creative process and production : it is time to experience in all stages of this cycle, from the qualities of the materials to the interaction between users and objects.
From this issue , we identified five areas around which concentrates the current design. These five axes uplift , and experimental design , a more local dump to society . We analyze these axes through five projects:
01. Social Design : Construisine , Johanna and Dominik Dehio Hehl
This project could be defined as an open kitchen. Construisine is a workshop where food is prepared with whatever you have on hand. You can use knives and saws as badly cut as seating charts . It is a “do it yourself ” rudimentary , but with a high degree of experimentation .
02. Virtual space : Thermobooth of taliaYstudio
The designer Talia Radford and artist Jonas Bohatsch created a photo booth that responds to human interaction . Conceived as an exploration of the emotional implications of electronic Thermobooth consists of a system of mirrors that act as valves when activated by the thermal contact between two or more people . The image is captured by an instant camera and then printed on paper .
03. Sustainable Design : Cargo Sail, Fritjof Giese
Maritime transport tons of oil consumed and CO2 emitted twice the planes . Sail Cargo leverages the abundant and free resource for propulsion : the wind . An innovative and eco no energy loss.
04. Design and social responsibility : BIOMAT Restaurant , Vera Wiedermann
You can generate enough energy to cook from organic waste we produce when we eat . Vera Wiedermann has self kitchen project which ensures that diners bring their own biogas – in the form of organic waste , and can eat the equivalent of the energy that can be generated with your contribution . Who gives more, pay less .
05. Urban Mobility : Lohnerwerke , Valentin Vodev , Clarissa Prunbauer
The Lohner car Viennese label designed two new proposals for urban mobility century. Read , designer Valentin Vodev , and Lucas , from the designer Clarissa Prunbauer are two electric scooters that meet this need without losing its classic aesthetic .
