Marcus is a renowned serial entrepreneur and angel investor with 2 decades of creating, operating, investing and advising startups both in Mexico and the United States.
He currently leads Startup México, the most ambitious program for the promotion of entrepreneurship and innovation in Mexico. He is a managing partner of the Dux Capital seed fund that invests in some of these ventures, directs the Angel Labs program in Latin America and directs the Global Entrepreneurship Network program representing Mexico. He recently participated as a new "shark" in the current season of the Shark Tank Mexico program.
Previously, he founded and directed Wayra México, Telefónica's startup accelerator, mainly focused on Internet and Communications businesses. He has been founder and CEO of several companies in the past, including Latin American Telecom, Mexico.com, Simitel, Peerant, Innovamédica and Abdeo Medical, among others.
In academia, he is a guest professor of entrepreneurship and innovation at IPADE and was the coordinator of the ISDI Internet Business Master's Program since its foundation, he is a professor of Innovation at the Disruptive Business Academy (DBA), he founded the Entrepreneur Center of the University CENTER of design and television and is regularly invited to give talks to other academic institutions part of the systems Anahuac, Ibero, Tec, UVM, UNAM, UAM and IPN, among many others.
He has won several entrepreneurship and innovation awards, including the Endeavor Dedication Award in 2003 (first edition) and the Intel Technology Award in 2004 with Simitel and in 2008 with Innovamédica.
He was a member of the board of the Mexico-US Entrepreneurship and Innovation Council (MUSEIC) currently participates in the Mexico-France Council for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (COMFEI). In addition, he is a member of the Intersectorial Innovation Council and chairs the Gifted Citizen event at City of Ideas.
